About the Richard Rodgers Theatre

The Richard Rodgers Theatre, located on West 46th Street in the heart of the Theater District, is one of Broadway's most celebrated venues. Built in 1925, the theater was renamed in 1990 to honor the legendary composer Richard Rodgers, whose musicals—Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, South Pacific—defined the American musical.

The theater achieved unprecedented fame as the home of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda's revolutionary hip-hop musical about Alexander Hamilton that became a cultural phenomenon. The show opened here in 2015 and transformed both the theater and Broadway itself, winning 11 Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

With 1,319 seats across orchestra, front mezzanine, and rear mezzanine levels, the Richard Rodgers offers an intimate Broadway experience with excellent sightlines. The theater's prime location makes it easily accessible, and its history of hosting groundbreaking productions—from Chicago to Raisin in the Sun to In the Heights—makes every visit feel significant.
